I have been having a great time creating with our hand dyed threads and beads. I love the little fly stitch which was introduced to me while teaching in Melbourne, Australia by one of my students. Here I used hand dyed #8 perle cotton and wonderful seagrass which is now one of my favorite threads. I love how using different fibers gives you a variety of looks.
Here I have used a metallic thread and hand dyed floss for a coral and a Pekinese stitch. They give such depth to the wool.
I also have some stranded Japanese flosses which I love because the variegation is short and you get instant textural gratification. Here I have done a chevron stitch as well as bullion knots.
I have a great bead book which I have been experimenting with and love this coral stitch done in silk thread with seed beads.
Have fun creating
Sue
Oh my Sue, I can't believe the look in just using the different threads, I'm telling you, you must write a book just on embellishments, what is seagrass, a type of thread or perle cotton or is that the color. Nancy
ReplyDeleteSue,
ReplyDeleteI love working with wool, but with your stitches on them wool can be so much more. I would love to take a class with you, maybe in Sisters this year. I have dropped the hint like a load of bricks to my sweetie for a birthday idea!
I was going to say, "I'd love to take a stroll through your head," but then I realized, that's what I just did. I LOVE that you give me pictures of this detail. I can't tell you how badly I need every shred of magic I can get these days, and your imagination is just invigorating. The beads just fire me up. And the stitches. I learn from looking.
ReplyDeleteLove the stitches and the beads just add a special depth to each piece..
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Maggey
